This picture was taken while there were several births happening in one room, four prenatals happening in another, and baby care and postpartum group happening in the waiting room. As you can see from the photo, we are busting at the seams and ready for a bigger space!

Just to give you more of an idea of how busy we are at Mamababy Haiti, during the month of September in 2020, we had twelve births in just twelve hours!

A year ago we were told by our current landlady that she needs her home back and we knew we would need to build our own permanent home for MamaBaby Haiti. This is a daunting task but we know with everyone’s help we can do it!

Fernando Gallardo is co-founder of MamaBaby Haiti and sits on the board of Directors. He was boots on the ground in Haiti in 2010 and not only found the location for MamaBaby Haiti to rent, but oversaw the building of the Birth Center we started in. He has built two beautiful

birth centers in Oregon and has years of entrepreneurial experience. He is an artist at his work and you can always see the beauty and care he puts into his construction projects.

James Sunel is the boss man. He was born in Haiti and has been building there since 2008. His first building was an orphanage, and his most recent building was a sewing center for Days for Girls. He is a man of influence in Haiti and knows all the right people to get the job done. We all look up to him!

Matthew Shepherd is a Doctor of Chiropractic, an entrepreneur, a savvy businessman, and master of estimates and budgeting. He has built and operated health clinics in Vietnam and California. He is always full of good ideas and energy and we are excited to have him be a part of our team.

Whitney Brown has over a decade of experience in Master Planned Development and Business Operations. She is the founder of Immeasurably More Haiti, a consulting firm that helps organizations create a positive impact in places that need it.

Whitney fell in love with Haiti and brings her passion and experience to our team. She heard we had a need and a dream and said “put it on paper” and then she had the faith that when we stepped forward boldly it would happen.

Donna Hanson is on the board of Directors for MamaBaby Haiti. She is an architect and a midwifery student. Her husband, Doug Hanson, is also an architect. We are grateful to have their years of experience and support in this grand project of a new birth center for Haiti!
